Anna Craig, Ph.D.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist (PSY 32431)

Welcome! I have a remote private practice where I offer individual and couples psychotherapy, as well as ADHD coaching and assessment, to adults and adolescents who reside within the state of California.
Areas of Expertise

-
Neurodivergence - ADHD and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD): In therapy, my approach is focused on the emotional components of the lived experience of ADHD and/or ASD such as self-esteem, interpersonal functioning and comorbid anxious/depressive symptoms, and emotion regulation. I strive to help people feel a sense of mastery in their daily life, and to feel self-aware and understand how their ADHD and/or ASD impacts how they function and relate to others. My ultimate goal is to help you celebrate the ways in which this diagnosis makes you uniquely you, in both wonderful and sometimes challenging ways. For my adolescent clients, I will typically meet with parent(s) regularly unless not clinically appropriate to ensure that treatment is helpful both at school and at home, and to make sure family members are playing a supportive role.
-
ADHD Assessment: I offer two types of ADHD assessments. (a) I offer a comprehensive evaluation that results in a written report interpreting findings and providing diagnostic implications. This is often the option that clients choose if they need formal documentation or "proof" of ADHD to receive accommodations on school exams/assignments, state or national exams (e.g., BAR, DAT, GRE, SAT), or work/occupation. An important component of my assessment report is the treatment recommendations section, which I tailor to each client so that they can leave feeling empowered with options for next steps. (b) If you are not interested in a comprehensive assessment but still want to determine if you have ADHD, I can conduct a thorough clinical interview with you to arrive at a diagnosis.
-
ADHD Coaching: I provide ongoing support in navigating school/work as well as home organization and task completion. Coaching sessions can be similar to therapy sessions, lasting 50 minutes once a week or two, or can be more frequent and shorter, to fit the needs of the client (e.g., staying accountable with work/school tasks and home organization). I have extensive experience providing ADHD coaching interventions for college and graduate students as well as for those in professional fields.

-
Eating Disorders: I am passionate about helping those with eating disorders find a sense of mental, physical, and emotional freedom from intrusive food and body thoughts, and to heal their relationships with food and body. I often utilize principles of Health At Every Size (HAES) and Intuitive Eating (IE) in my work, and collaborate with medical and dietetic providers for holistic care.

-
Couples: I offer couples therapy for general relationship issues (e.g., communication, intimacy) as well as to address ADHD and ASD specific issues within the context of the relationship. My style as a couples therapist is direct, active, and focuses both on emotion and skills development (e.g., communication, co-regulation). Healing and change will come from open and thorough communication with each other, which is my job to facilitate, and therefore I require both partners to be present in sessions and do not provide individual sessions outside of couples sessions.

-
Trauma: I have extensive experience working with acute and complex, past and present, trauma. I’ve supported clients in processing and healing from histories of ongoing/repeated abuse and/or neglect from parents (i.e., attachment-related wounds that lead to issues in adult relationships), abuse in romantic relationships, and one-time life events such as car accidents or single incidents of assault. I utilize trauma-focused CBT to help clients process their fragmented memories and emotions in order to move forward with a clearer mind and more grounded sense of self. I use IFS to help mend their relationship with themselves (e.g., alleviate shame), depending on the needs/fit of the client.

Comprehensive ADHD Assessment
1
Clinical Interview
I conduct a thorough, in-depth clinical interview lasting 90-120 minutes focused on gathering background and current information about presenting concerns and functioning. This session hones in on ADHD symptoms, as well as distinguishing from related but separate symptoms or disorders (e.g., anxiety, trauma) to ensure accurate diagnosis.
2
Diagnostic Tests
I administers several questionnaires to you directly. You will receive additional questionnaires to complete, and will ask others who know you well to complete to provide collateral observations.

Following return of all questionnaires, I score and interpret results. I create a comprehensive, individualized written report including diagnostic implications.
3
Feedback Session
Once the written report is complete, I will meet with you to review their results and diagnosis, and to go over treatment recommendations.
You will receive a copy of the written report, and if needed, the formal report can be sent to the referring party (e.g., a university, licensing board or other organization).
